The project size is 197,335 sq. ft. and consists of several 4-story student housing buildings. The first phase of the UCI Verano Place development includes a 400-bed student housing complex for graduate students. The project created a sense of place for the community through a shared organizational system of landscaped open space and building courtyards. Also included in phase 1 is a 7,000 sq. ft. addition to the existing UCI infant Toddler Center. The project featured included high efficiency HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems with a focus on natural ventilation. Project is also a LEED Platinum project.

Winners of a team design-build competition with MVEI, and project design engineers of record for HVAC, Plumbing and fire protection. Project was new construction student housing approx. 90,000 sq. ft. at University of California Irvine. The Verano Place Apartments house roughly 1,221 students (some with families) in one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with central laundry facilities, cyber cafes, and lounge areas. Project delivery was performed using the design-build methodology, starting with a design competition amongst 3 other design build teams.  This project was designed and delivered in conjunction with PCL Construction Company.  The total construction budget was $80,000,000.  The design of this project achieved LEED Platinum certifications for each building and contained many energy efficient features to ensure building sustainability.  This project was designed to exceed 2010 California Title 24 energy standards by more than 30%.  All design and construction drawings were developed using BIM 3D modeling.
