The Public Safety Complex is located at the Lompoc Valley Center.  The project consisted of a 36,678 sq. ft. academic building, 8,568 sq. ft. six-story fire tower, 12,286 sq. ft. apparatus storage building, a 42,406 sq. ft. shooting range, scenario village, prop house, fitness track, skid pad/slow speed driving skills area, and a one-mile emergency vehicle operator course (EVOC). The entire facility is designed to allow each academy simultaneous use of the training facilities. The main classroom building, locker rooms and conference rooms are designed to be shared by both fire and police programs. The building is provided with a high efficiency central plant consisting of high efficiency variable primary chilled water system and high efficiency boilers and variable speed pumps. The facility is also controlled by a Energy Management system that is optimized. The public safety complex now addresses the classroom and primary laboratory needs of the public safety program of the college which include; fire science, emergency medical technology, hazardous materials handling, and the fire and police academies for the college.  All plumbing fixtures are low flow fixtures for water conservation.

The Project is a LEED Silver project.
